Western Film Region
Western Pennsylvania is rich in beauty, history, ethnicity and the changing
face of industry. Like other parts of the state, the area is steeped in reminders
of the past. Historic sites and well-preserved buildings mark the years from
before the Revolutionary War through the Industrial Revolution.
Steel mills and Steelers…modern subway and skyscrapers…exquisite
restorations…dramatic river and skyline views.
Much of its industrial past remains to add to the variety of Pittsburgh-area
film locations. But today the smoke has cleared and Pittsburgh has become one
of the favorite cities in the U.S. Two urban renaissances in three decades,
the second one costing $2.4 billion, have created the thrilling skyline, the
corporate emphasis and the cultural phenomenon that define Pittsburgh today.
Erie is strategically located in the Western Region on the shore of the Great
Lake that bears its name. Erie is a treasure trove of historical locations plus
nostalgic and contemporary American sites.
